Lotza

Baklava and iced coffee on a table overlooking Santorini's blue-domed churches and caldera sea view
Plan your visit

No booking needed, but arrive before the sunset crowd fills the viewpoint area nearby.

about this place

Lotza is a cafe in Oia, sitting close to the village’s most photographed viewpoint and looking directly out over the caldera and the famous blue-domed rooftops below. That position is the whole point: you come here to sit, eat something good, and take in one of the most recognisable views in Greece at a pace that feels human.

The menu covers food, light bites and Greek pastries, and the prices are reasonable by Oia standards. Two things stand out: the baklava, which is worth ordering even if you have already eaten, and the iced coffee, which is exactly what you want when the afternoon heat is at its worst. The setting is open enough that the view never feels blocked.

Lotza fits naturally into a half-day walk around Oia. It suits anyone who wants a proper sit-down break rather than grabbing something on the move. Peak times around sunset get crowded in this part of the village, so arriving earlier in the day tends to make for a more relaxed visit.

Our take

Go for the baklava and an iced coffee, and stay long enough to properly look at the caldera. Anyone rushing through Oia should still make time for this stop.

Celebrity Xcel Med

Our Mediterranean summer aboard Celebrity Xcel took us from Athens to Barcelona, with Santorini, Mykonos, Ephesus and Valletta along the way. We loved the ship and the itinerary, although the intense July heat and busy school-holiday crowd made it a slightly different Celebrity cruise from the one we had expected.
