First MSC Cruise experience – would this be the last?

A Personal Review of our Cruise on MSC Euribia

Embarking on the MSC Euribia was an adventure filled with highs and lows, leaving us with a mix of emotions about the experience. The ship itself is undeniably beautiful, with its innovative design and commitment to sustainability making a bold statement. However, as much as there was to love, there were a few aspects of the journey that could have been better.

The Good: Aesthetics, Crew and Ambience

First and foremost, MSC Euribia’s aesthetics are stunning. From the elegant atrium to the vibrant pool areas, the ship’s design reflects modern luxury. The staff in the bars and lounges worked tirelessly to ensure everyone had a good time, and the cocktails were expertly crafted.

Dining and Drinks: Mixed Impressions

When it comes to dining, our feelings are mixed. The main dining room offered a range of options, and while some meals were delightful, others lacked flavor or felt rushed in preparation. The buffet, while vast in selection, occasionally struggled with maintaining consistent quality.

Another concern was the drinks and dining packages. While they seemed comprehensive on paper, the value didn’t quite match up in practice. Certain beverages and dining experiences required additional fees, which made the packages feel less inclusive than advertised. It’s worth considering whether the packages truly align with your preferences before booking.

Cabins and Noise Levels

Unfortunately, one of the more frustrating aspects of our trip was the noise in the cabins. It was often difficult to relax due to constant banging doors and the sound of items being dragged across the floor. This was particularly disruptive during the night and early morning hours. We’ve done a few cruises prior and have not experienced this kind of noise levels in the cabins.

Organization and Passenger Behavior

The cruise’s organization left room for improvement. Embarkation and disembarkation were impressively fast, which was a relief given the volume of passengers onboard. However, there was a total lack of clear passenger information during these processes. Instructions were often vague or nonexistent, leading to confusion and unnecessary stress. Additionally, some passengers—and I emphasize that this was only a small group—displayed behavior that detracted from the experience. This included cutting in lines, being overly loud in public areas, and, regrettably, treating the staff with less respect than they deserved. While such behaviors are beyond the cruise line’s control, better enforcement of rules could help create a more harmonious environment for everyone onboard.

Final Thoughts

Despite its challenges, the MSC Euribia offers an impressive cruising experience. Its stunning design and hardworking staff are commendable. However, potential travelers should be prepared for the possibility of noise, organizational hiccups, and the need to navigate the nuances of the drinks and dining packages.

Would we sail on MSC Euribia again? Possibly, but with adjusted expectations and a clearer understanding of what to anticipate. For those considering this ship, my advice is to focus on the positives, stay patient during the occasional rough patch, and don’t forget to soak in the breathtaking views the open sea has to offer.
