Radisson Resort at the Port – Does the Job, But Don’t Expect More
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights before our cruise, and the location is really the main draw. At $416.09 for two nights, it’s not exactly cheap, but it’s competitively priced for the area given how close it sits to the port. It ticked the boxes we needed — though that said, you very much get what you pay for here, and that’s probably the fairest way to sum the place up.
The shuttle service to the port is a genuine highlight — $6 per person one way, which is great value if you’re not driving. Easy, stress-free, and one less thing to worry about before boarding.
The rooms are basic but functional. Where it fell short for us was housekeeping — on day 2, our room wasn’t serviced and the towels weren’t replaced, which felt like a miss for a two-night stay. The property itself is a mix of a main building and motel-style rooms, and if you’re assigned one of the furthest units, be prepared to haul your luggage quite a distance. There is elevator access, but the layout isn’t particularly practical depending on where you’re placed — something worth bearing in mind when you’re loaded up with cruise luggage.
The communal areas could use more attention. There are ongoing works in parts of the property, and we noticed cigarette butts on the ground in several spots. Small things individually, but together they give the place a slightly tired feel.
Breakfast isn’t included in the room rate, and we didn’t try the on-site option so we can’t fairly comment on it. There’s a McDonald’s nearby if you just need something quick before heading to the port. On the topic of convenience — the vending machines are there if you want soft drinks, but a couple were out of service during our stay, so it’s not something you can rely on.
Would we stay again? Probably not, unless we had no other options. At over $400 for two nights, we’d want a little more consistency and care in return. It serves its purpose as a pre-cruise stopover, but with a bit more research, you could likely find somewhere that offers a similar price point with a better overall experience.
