About this place

Casa Batlló is a building on the Passeig de Gràcia in the Eixample district of Barcelona, designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí. The structure is recognisable for its sculptural facade, which features bone-like contours and columns that give the exterior an organic, almost skeletal appearance.

The roofline is covered in curved ceramic tiles arranged in overlapping sections that resemble the scales of a dragon, a detail that makes the building one of the more distinctive along a street already known for its modernist architecture. The facade is also decorated with vibrant mosaic tiling in blues and greens.

The building, originally an apartment block, now operates as a museum open to the public. It sits at Passeig de Gràcia 43, in the Eixample district, alongside other notable works from the same architectural period.
