Plaza Mayor

This is the main square in Lima and it is usually pretty busy. It is the core of the city where you can see a large fountain and bright yellow buildings. The two biggest landmarks here are the Government Palace and the Cathedral. Both are right on the square and look great in person.

You can watch the changing of the guard at the palace around noon every day. It is a good place to start your walk through the historic district. There are plenty of cafes nearby to grab a snack.
