Royal Beach Club Santorini

Buy tickets online or at the gate; prices change with the season. It is a drive or a bus ride beyond Mellieħa, so check bus times before you set off.
In 1979 a film crew built a whole ramshackle fishing village of wooden houses on the rocks of Anchor Bay for Robert Altman's Popeye, the musical starring Robin Williams and Shelley Duvall. The film came out in 1980, and the set, called Sweethaven, was never taken down.
Today it is Popeye Village, a small theme park around the original houses. Entry covers the film set, short shows with costumed characters and a cinema screening, and in summer there are sunbeds and a place to swim in the bay.
If you would rather not buy a ticket, the set is still worth a look from the viewpoint across the bay, where the whole village spreads along the waterline below you.
A fun stop rather than a must-see, and best with children. The view from across the bay costs nothing.

Location
