If you’re walking around The Strand in Galveston, you have to stop at La King’s. It looks like an old-school candy shop from the 1920s. You can stand by the windows and watch them pull saltwater taffy on huge machines. It is pretty cool to see how they make the candy right there in the store.

Inside, there is a long marble counter where soda jerks make milkshakes and malts. They still use original equipment for their ice cream and sodas. It usually gets busy on weekends, so be prepared for a short wait.
