Galveston Pleasure Pier

Galveston, United States

a pier with a roller coaster in the distance
about this place

You can’t miss this pier sticking out over the Gulf of Mexico. It’s full of rides like a big Ferris wheel and a roller coaster that hangs over the water. It feels like an old-school boardwalk. You can grab snacks like popcorn or funnel cakes at the stands along the wooden deck.

If you don’t want to do rides, you can just buy a walk-on pass. It’s a good way to see the views for a lower price. Most people visit in the evening when the neon lights turn on.

Travel Serie

Texas – Western Caribbean

This series follows our journey to Texas and beyond, starting in Houston and Galveston before boarding Harmony of the Seas for a Western Caribbean adventure. It’s our first time sailing on an Oasis Class ship, and our first time exploring this corner of the Caribbean, so everything feels a little bigger, louder, and more curious than usual. Before the cruise even begins, we spend a few days wandering Houston and Galveston—eating well, poking around local spots, and easing into travel mode—then it’s off to sea to see how this mega-ship and this region live up to their reputations. Big ship, new destinations, first impressions only.
