Plan your visit

Check local conditions and facilities before travelling to Kamari Beach on Santorini.

About this place

Kamari Beach is a long stretch of black volcanic pebble and sand on the eastern coast of Santorini. The beach runs along the base of the Mesa Vouno mountain, whose steep rock face rises directly behind the shoreline, forming a natural backdrop to the seafront.

The dark colouring of the beach material comes from the island's volcanic geology, which gives Kamari a markedly different appearance from the pale sand beaches found elsewhere in Greece. A line of seafront amenities sits along the beach, serving the area directly.
