The caravanserai is accessible on foot from the nearby harbour area.

About this place

The Öküz Mehmed Pasha Caravanserai is a 17th-century Ottoman structure built in 1618 directly across from the harbour. Constructed in a fortress style, it was originally intended to shelter merchants and travellers moving along the old trade routes that passed through the port.

The building has since been restored and now operates partly as a boutique hotel. Its courtyard is also used to host exhibitions and events, giving the site a dual role as both a working property and a public cultural space.

The caravanserai is notable for its thick stone walls, arched marble entrance, and enclosed courtyard. It sits close to the port area, making it straightforward to visit on foot without travelling far from the waterfront.
