Kusadasi

Kusadasi is a port town on Turkey's Aegean coast, close to the Roman ruins of Ephesus. It has a harbour serving cruise ships and ferries, with beaches along the surrounding coastline.

About

Kusadasi is a port town on the Aegean coast of western Turkey, in Aydın province. It sits close to the ruins of ancient Ephesus, one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the world, which draws a considerable volume of visitors to the area each year.

The town itself has a working harbour that receives cruise ships alongside local ferry traffic, and the surrounding coastline features a number of beaches. The wider Aegean setting means the region shares cultural and geographical ties with nearby Greek islands.

Ephesus Ruins

Attraction

A UNESCO World Heritage Site near Kusadasi, Ephesus features the Library of Celsus, a vast ancient theatre and terraced houses with intact mosaics. Shade is limited, so bring sun protection.

A small stone house in the hills above Selçuk, said to be where the Virgin Mary spent her final years. Often visited alongside nearby Ephesus.

A 17th-century Ottoman caravanserai built in 1618, it once sheltered merchants and travellers. Restored, it now operates as a boutique hotel and hosts exhibitions in its courtyard.

OBA Rugs and Kilim is a shop in Selçuk, İzmir province, western Turkey, selling traditional Turkish rugs and flat-woven kilims.

Scala Nuova is an open-air shopping centre near the cruise port, with a mix of well-known brands and local shops selling clothing, jewellery and gifts, plus cafés.

Watch Kusadasi

Kusadasi was one of our stops on our Mediterranean cruise aboard Celebrity Xcel, and we'd say Ephesus alone makes it a port you shouldn't skip. In this video we take you along on our private Get Your Guide tour to Ephesus, the House of Mary and the Temple of Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
