about this place

This is the main square in Cusco. It sits at about 3,400 meters, so you might feel the thin air when you walk around. You can see where the Spanish built their churches right on top of the old Inca stone walls. It is a busy spot where locals and travelers hang out near the fountain.

The square is surrounded by buildings with carved wooden balconies. There are lots of cafes and shops nearby. It’s a good place to sit on a bench, grab a snack, and get used to the altitude.
