About this place
Little Venice is a small cluster of old captain houses sitting directly on the water at the western edge of Mykonos old town. The buildings date back to the 18th century, and the thing that sets the area apart is simple: the walls drop straight into the Aegean rather than facing it across a promenade or a beach.
Walking through, you get narrow lanes opening suddenly onto a low seawall, with tables from the waterfront bars perched right at the edge. It is one of the more photographed corners of the island, and once you arrive you can see why people come back to it at the end of the day to watch the light go off the water. It gets genuinely crowded in the evening hours.
Little Venice works well as part of a longer walk through Mykonos town rather than as a standalone trip. It suits anyone who wants a drink by the water at sunset, though the crowds and prices that come with that reputation are worth factoring in before you settle on a table.
A pleasant stop if you are already in Mykonos old town, but the crowds and the tourist pricing might need to be considered during peak seasons. Manage your expectations accordingly.
